Volunteer Abroad with Volunteering Solutions

Volunteer at an Orphanage in Sri Lanka

Volunteers in this program work in orphanages assisting children with various activities including games, sports, teaching, hygiene & education.  You will also assist the local staff with helping them in administration work wherever possible. You can also get involved in art & craft activities for children and organizing short trips to local destinations with the children.

The Orphanages house around 40-50 children who are in the age group of 1 -12 years. The children, are the ones who have been left alone by their parents (mothers) and some are those whose parents were lost by the disastrous TSUNAMI in 2004 which has effected most of the Sri Lankans who were living beside the coast and coastal areas.

Orphans are deprived of many opportunities necessary for their development. Your little help at an orphanage can be of great significance for these children, helping to make their present secure and future promising. Volunteering at an orphanage is a truly fulfilling and enriching experience.
On a typical day, volunteers work for around 5-6 hrs in a day in the Orphanage placement. Weekends are free to travel and explore the historic city of Galle.
