Q.What are the Project locations in Ghana?
Ans.Our Volunteer Programs are located in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale in Ghana.
     
Q.When do I need to arrive in Ghana for my program?

Ans.You can come one day in advance from your program starting date.
 
Q.What will happen once I arrive in Ghana?
Ans.Our staff will be there to meet and greet you at the airport in Accra and from there you will be taken to the project or hostel depending on the time of your arrival.
 
Q.When will I know specific details of my placement?
Ans.Once you have applied, we will send you details of your placement usually within 10 working days.
      
Q.How do I get to the program location?
Ans.Your country coordinator will take you to your placement and introduce you to everyone after giving you a basic orientation about the program/city/culture etc.
 
Q.I want to know more about accommodation arrangements?
Ans.We provide you with accommodation from your start date to the end of the program. Accommodation will either be in a host family or arranged at your program location itself. You will have your own room, which you might share with another volunteer. You should bring along things like, mosquito net, mosquito repellent and your own soaps and shampoos.
      
Q.What will be the food arrangement?
Ans.Volunteers are provided with 2 meals a day. Meals include local Ghanian food .
      
Q.Do you make provision for vegetarians?
Ans.Yes and if you are vegan this will not be a problem.
      
Q.What is the age range to volunteer?
Ans.The minimum age requirement for our programs in Ghana is 17 years.There is no upper age limit. You just have to be in good health.
 
Q.What immunizations/vaccinations will I need?
Ans.Yellow fever vaccination is compulsory for all the travelers visiting Ghana. We advise you to consult your doctor several weeks before you travel and seek advice regarding the vaccinations to take. A list of recommended vaccinations is provided in the Pre departure Guide provided to volunteers.
 
Q.Can couples or families join the volunteer program?
Ans.Yes, couples and families are welcome to join our programs.

We also provide special grograms for groups with discounts on offer as well.
 
Q.Are there more expenses once I arrive in Ghana?
Ans.Your program fee covers you for food and accommodation. You will need to cover yourself for your personal expenses, such as traveling, telephone, internet, shopping, sightseeing etc. Travelling within Ghana is cheap; however, you should carry at least $50 per week for yourself.
 
Q.Where can I change my money in Ghana?
Ans.You can change money in any bank or at the airport by showing your passport.Your local coordinator will assist you in doing this.
 
Q.Will I have an opportunity to get to know the location in which my project is based and see the surrounding areas?
Ans.Yes. Although you are committed to specific volunteer schedules, we make sure that you have free time to explore and get to know the local culture and attractions.
     
Q.How can I get a visa?
Ans.All volunteers are advised to contact the Ghanaian High Commission or Consulate in their country and apply for a tourist visa before traveling to Ghana. If you decide to stay longer in Ghana, you can extend your visa after you arrive. Extension is obtained from the immigration department in Ghana

It is Volunteers responsibility to get the visa themselves, however we can provide a letter if needed by the Embassy.
 
Q.How Safe is Ghana?
Ans.Despite numerous political problems in other West African countries, Ghana is a very safe country. Crime is much lower than in other African states, and indeed much lower than in many western countries. Ghanaians are also very friendly toward foreigners, and treat them as welcome guests in their country. Many people will greet you throughout Ghana with the phrase "Akwaaba" or "Woezor"- meaning welcome in Twi and Ewe, the most commonly spoken local language.
 
Q.Are there ATM’s in Ghana?
Ans.There are few ATM’s in Ghana. You will find plenty of ATM’s specially in the tourist areas of Ghana.
 
Q.Is there phone and internet available on projects?
Ans.You will have to use Internet café’s to use Internet. It is strongly recommended that you carry a mobile phone while traveling to Ghana. You can get international roaming or can simply buy a local sim card from the airport when you arrive.
 
Q.What hours will I volunteer every day?
Ans.Volunteers usually work for 5‐6 hours a day depending on their program. You will have weekend off so you can go to travel on weekends. However some organizations will need you to work on some Saturdays as well.
      
Q.Are we able to do any sightseeing or traveling in weekends?

Ans.You will usually have 2 free days per week, you can utilize this time for anything you like. All costs are at the volunteer's expense.
      
Q.Do I need travel insurance?
Ans.Yes, it is included in the program fee that you pay to Volunteering Solutions.
